Thursday Afternoon - April 6, 1933

Dearest Mary: –

Received your letter last evening and thot I would answer it after supper but Dot and I went to church and when I got home I was sleepy, so I went to bed. The Rev. W.C. Zimmerman of South Bend preached last night and Rev. Riley went to South Bend.

I ought to be getting things cleared up and ready to start house cleaning but this kind of weather is not very nice for that. I surely do dislike such rainy weather.

We attended the Senior Class play Tuesday evening. It was good but don’t think any better than the Junior play, don’t think I liked it as well.

Mildred went with Mary W. and she was down here a few minutes before they went to the play and said she had seen you in Fort Wayne on Saturday afternoon. Weren’t you afraid to go up town? Did Mary have on her blue suit and hat. Mildred said she looked in that. Mrs. Method made the suit for her out hf the long blue coat she wore last spring. Did she tell you about the dress she bought for the Junior Senior affair. She got a white formal dress, don’t know what material, and now doesn’t have a short jacket to wear with it. I don’t think I will like it with her black velvet coat for I suppose it is real long. She had her hair cut yesterday, so Dorothy say. She saw her last night.

Don’t know if Mary B. has any of her new dresses yet or not, I haven’t seen her since you were home the last time.

I think it would be all right to get George a gift if you want to and I think too you should give it to him the same time you do Mary B. I haven’t decided yet what to get Mary. I don’t want to pay very much, less thana  dollar and yet I feel as tho’ I should. Don’t forget your baby gift. I suppose you should bring that this time too.

I think it is a shame you have to go back for Sunday as it costs you so much every time to get home. If you don’t expect to stay any after that Sunday and not be there to help her on Saturday. I should think she would need some one to help her on Saturday and then she could stay on Sunday too. Do you think she is trying to find any one, of course I see how you feel about it. Do just as you want to and I’ll not say any thing. It would be nice if you could attend the lae-services on Eater Sun. afternoon. I should think you would enjoy the oratorial contest and see lots of people. IO think I will drive up on wednesday and then we could come home early Thursday evening. If I come Wed. think it would be in the morning.  Will let you know later. I lost a filling out of one of my front teeth and I will go by way of Wolcottville and maybe I can have that fixed and save a trip up there.

I can’t see how you got in before 12 o’clock that night if we drove straight to Cheve and I’m sure it was just 10 minutes before 1:00 when we got there and 1:15 or so when we left. I just supposed I have looked wrong when I said it was after 11 it must have been 12 or we should have been in Chevre . No you don’t owe me any 50 cents because I didn't pay for your ticket, didn’t think any more about it. I just meant I took you to the show  see It’s his tough luck if he expected me to pay it.I guess if he wouldn’t have taken it from you he wouldn’t me. So you think the writing didn’t cover spend. Well maybe he didn’t intend tit should. I don’t know. Anyway we had you guessing.

Dorothy is just trying to get rid of her hives and swelling. Even at that she is getting fat. Weighs 110 now. She hasn’t paid me yet, but hadn’t had any business this week. If she doesn’t have it by the time you come home you can pay he then. Suppose you will be needing some money so will send you 5.00 in this letter. Don’t know how long Dorothy will work. She hasn’t had anything wall week. She pays her way over to Goshen by doing Mabel’s hair which helps a lot and she goes without her dinner. I hope she can soon get ahead some. This is terrible.

O yes about Aunt Ruth’s party. Dot said they all seemed to have a  good time. She had three tables and played pinochle. Here’s it – Mr and Mrs Roy Rogers, John Rowe, (S), Percy Troyer (S), Belmont and Lou – Cal + Ruth and Dorothy and Keith K. Now how do you like that? She intended to have Donald Bush LaCount but he had to play ball so Belmont got Keith to fill in.

The Juniors Seniors have a theatre party next Tues evening at 700 see (42nd Street) and then go to a new eating place and have a luncheon for 25 cts each and they furnish their own decorations. Quite new but suppose they will have a good time. Lots of love, Mother
