March 14, 1945.

Dear Ginny,

Sorry I haven’t answered your letter sooner but that guard duty I have don’t give me much time to write. Some mornings I skip breakfast so that I can catch up on my writing. What a life!

We got that guard duty for another week so that means no mess hall. Am I glad! Boy that’s a dirty job and with longer hours than I want now. I’d go nuts working there.

So you and Gloria know a Mary Ann Dixon in Buffalo. A pal of mine does and I was wondering if you do also.

One good thing of working at Ships Service is that there’s girls working there + we can talk to them.

We we got to know them good they started bringing us hamburgers + ice cream from outside and we made the fellows in details jealous. Well that’s all for now.

Write soon.

As Ever

Sully
